About Dr. Jill
Training and Background
I earned my doctorate in Clinical Psychology from University of Texas at Austin and completed an internship at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, TX. These highly-ranked training programs are accredited by the American Psychological Association. I was licensed as a Psychologist in Texas in 1998 and I have been licensed in this state since since moving back to California in 2000.
I have 30+ years of clinical experience and have trained and practiced in a range of environments. These include a research-based anxiety treatment center, private practices and community mental health agencies in ethnically diverse urban areas, psychiatric and general medical hospitals, a psychiatric emergency room, criminal justice and forensic settings, a university student counseling center, and child and family treatment settings. As past training faculty for an APA-approved psychology internship program, my experience also includes supervising and teaching clinical skills and assessment to psychology interns and master’s-level clinicians, and providing consultation and continuing education seminars on a variety of topics to mental health professionals. I have long enjoyed a thriving private practice working with clients from a variety of backgrounds and cultures. I continue to obtain training and experience in a variety of approaches that I can share with clients.
Prior to my psychological graduate training, I completed my undergraduate degree at Mills College in Oakland, and Master’s-level work at Stanford University in Palo Alto, both in the field of computer science. I worked as a software engineer at a major computer company for several years before making a shift into my current life work. I have lived in California for much of my life.
I would be happy to answer any questions you may have about the work I do.
